What effect does encountering a being of light who is identified as Jesus have on the person who is having the near death experience? If he is a Christian, then his faith is reaffirmed. If he is an atheist or agnostic, then he will change his mind about God. In fact, there are no negatives in this type of experience.

John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

When a person has a NDE and encounters a being of light who is never identified, we find a common thread. These people don’t know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. They question why they are in heaven, but are glad to be there. And they are always instructed to love each other more. I believe an act of spiritual warfare has just taken place.

On the surface, this sounds biblical, but what are the ramifications? If the person did not know Jesus as their saviour, they will leave this particular near death experience believing they are going to heaven when they die. They don’t have a sin problem. Everyone (they believe) is going to heaven whether or not they have trusted in Jesus's death (without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins) on the cross to wash away their sins. They will feel that attending church is a waste of time.

They will tell others that everyone is going to heaven so don’t worry about your sin problem, You don’t have one. Who would want you to believe that a sin problem doesn't exist? Only one being and it is not God.

Satan and God have been involved in spiritual warfare since evil began.

The Bible is very clear that in order to get into heaven, you must have your sins washed away by the Blood of Christ. Now consider the above near death experience. Is it not a great evil to make a person believe he is heaven bound, but their true spiritual condition will give them a one-way ticket on a hellbound train once they die? Who could be behind such a deception?

2 Cor. 11:14 “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”

One NDE’er who encountered a being of light which didn't identify itself, had this to say when it was suggested that the being of light she encountered was actually Satan. “No one could possibly be that evil.”

People forget that as residents of planet earth, they are involved in spiritual warfare. Jesus is trying to save its inhabitants (spiritually speaking) and Satan is doing his best to destroy us. That warfare obviously extends into the near death experience.
