What Is Satanism?

The definition of Satanism really depends on your viewpoint. Since this site explains things from the viewpoint of the Holy Bible of Christianity (whose author is God himself), we'll lookat 2 possible definitions.

The first definition of Satanism would be anyone who:

A. Worships the Christian devil (known as Satan).

B. Worships any supernatural entity other than Christ such as the Egyptian god Set.

C. Accepts Satan as a pre-Christian life-principle concept worth emulating.

The other meaning of Satanism is broader. Most religious historians, mainline Christians, liberal Christians, etc., view Satanism as Satanists themselves view their religion: a very small religious group that is unrelated to any other faith, and whose members feel free to satisfy their urges, exhibit kindness to their friends, and attack their enemies. There are perhaps ten thousand Satanists in North America. Accurate numbers are quite impossible to estimate. The bible states that there are only two powerful supernatural forces in the world: God and Satan. It also clearly states that Satan is the god of this age (world). As illustrated when Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness. Again, the devil taketh him (Jesus) up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him (Jesus) all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him (Jesus), All these will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Satan offered the kingdoms of this world to Jesus. This clearly shows that Satan has authority of this present world or age. It also shows that Satan desires to be worshiped as God.

Want further proof that Satan rules this present age? 2 Cor. 4:4 In whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not (has not put their trust in Jesus shed blood to atone for their sins), lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should unto them.

In the broader sense, the definition of Satanism is that all who do not believe and put their trust in Christ is a Satanist. However, they don't believe themselves to be Satanists. In fact, they have deceived themselves into believing they can get to heaven by their own good works which is what their personal religion teaches. The bible is very clear on this. John 5:14 Jesus said unto him I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."Are you a Satanist? Do you practice Satanism? If you have failed to put your trust in Christ, then you are. Jesus told the Pharisees (a religious group) that their father was the devil. In fact, the devil is everyone's father until they accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

Acts: 4:10-12Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
