What Is A Bible Mystery?

What is a Bible Mystery? Is it the work of man or is it the word of God Himself? Millions of people have put their faith in the Bible and its central character, Jesus Christ. Millions of others completely ignore the Bible choosing to believe in other religions, other religious books, or claiming to not believe in anything. The answer to the question, "What is a Bible mystery?" is this: It is God revealing something to mankind that had not been known before. An example of this would be the church. The Old Testament prophets were told about the church so knew nothing about this. This mystery was revealed by God at the appointed time.

In the book of Job, Job was stricken with disease and the loss of everything he had with the exception of his wife. Job could not understand why this had happened so he asked God questions. God answered Job with more questions. Which brings us to the question. Can the Bible be trusted? Is a Bible mystery really a mystery? God wants us to ask questions because we become closer to God when we do.

God has not revealed everything to us and some things we are not yet meant to know. For instance, in the book of Revelation, John was given a vision to write about but he was told not to write everything that he saw. And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

Here is an example of a Bible mystery that will not be revealed until God decides to reveal it. An example of something that was a mystery to the Old Testament believers but revealed in the New Testament is the verse commonly referred to as the Rapture.

God reveals mysteries to us in due time. The Bible itself contains mysteries that were once unknown to man and also reveals, to an extent, the mystery of God.

The Bible is composed of 66 different books combined into one volume. This volume has survived intact for close to 2000 years and has been translated multiple times yet the central message and story always remain the same. This is, in itself, a miracle. Concerning the Bible, Jesus stated, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matt. 24:35

A Bible mystery that most of the world does not understand is that Jesus is the author of the Bible. Not only that, He is also our creator as confirmed in Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

In addressing the subject what is a Bible mystery consider these three biblical statements.

1. In hope of eternal life which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. Titus 1:2 Here it is revealed that God cannot do something that Satan or the Devil is very proficient at. God cannot tell a falsehood but Satan can. Most people fail to realize this. There is no mystery here to the student of God's word but this fact is lost on people who never read or study the Bible. For God's people, this is a Bible mystery revealed but remains a mystery for the people who still do not belong to God.

2. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21 Who wrote the Bible? God did, but he used people to do the physical part. This nullifies the argument that the Bible was written by men and therefore subject to error. The only errors may have been in the translation from Hebrew and Greek to the English and other languages but those translations still reamin very close to the original meaning of Hebrew and Greek texts.

3. We have also a more sure word of prophecy;whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19 Prophecy is the greatest example of the answer to the question, "What is a Bible Mystery?" Prophecy is the proof that God exists and God is the author of the Bible. Prophecy is the future written in advance. It is something revealed by God to mankind that was hitherto unknown. Many fulfilled Bible prophecies validate the accuracy of the scriptures. Since scripture is the word of God, the most sure thing is the "word of prophecy". It's not a question of will it happen, but when will it happen.

The Bible tells us that it is impossible for God to lie. The Holy Spirit wrote the Bible and there is nothing more sure than Bible Prophecy which promises that Christ will return to set up an earthly kingdom despite man's unbelief.

The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is a part of God. God is a triune being. God the father is a spirit. God the son is the physical aspect of God (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit is also spirit. This is a mystery that man is aware of but really cannot comprehend very well.

Consider that Genesis Chapter 1 verse 26 says, "And God said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness." Notice that God refers to himself in the plural.

Man was created in the image of God. Man is a triune being. He has a body, spirit, and soul. Concerning God, Jesus is the body, God is the soul, and the Holy Spirit is the spirit. I realize that this does not give a complete idea of who God really is but it does give us a rough outline.

The first verse of the Bible says that God created the heavens and earth. If God cannot lie, then everything you see must have been created by God. This makes the theory of evolution a big joke and a big lie. Of course, if the first verse of the Bible is not true, then none of the Bible can be trusted and our lives would be utterly pointless.

How do we test the validity of the Bible?

The answer is prophecy. Every prophecy in the Bible must come true if God cannot lie. There are hundreds of prophecies in the Bible. Many have already come to pass. Yet there are many more waiting to be fulfilled. The law of compound probabilities tells us that the possibility or chance of each one of these being fulfilled is about one in a billion.

Since God cannot lie, every prophecy in the Bible must come true because God wrote the Bible. Statistics are overwhelmingly against it but this is just another way of God demonstrating how great He really is.

The answer to the question, "What is a Bible mystery?" can be summed up this way: God is the author and God is personified in Jesus Christ. God has given us prophecy to validate and prove His word and prophecy centers around Jesus Christ. The Bible is about how God created man who broke his relationship with God by falling into sin then God becoming a man, Jesus Christ, to make an atonement for man's sin for the purpose of restoring the relationship man once had with God. God reveals things to man that was hitherto unknown to man in stages. As the ages progress, more things will be revealed to us.

The great mystery is why would God create something that would rebel against Him then make a way to overcome that rebellion? The Bible teaches that free will is involved in that but we will not fully understand this until the appointed time.
