Christian Rock - Satanic?
March 02, 2008
This in reply to this statement:
"Since Christian Rock fans aren't truly submitted, they'll never be able to resist Satan, no matter how often they sing "To Hell With The Devil" (by Stryper)."
In February of 1990 I was sitting in my car high on marijuana and listening to my tape player. It was after midnight.
The Holy Spirit had already been convicting me of the validity and truth of the word of God which we know as the Holy Bible.
The song "To Hell With The Devil" came on my stereo. Anyone who has ever experienced being high knows that the enjoyment of music seems to be amplified.
I was so moved by this song sitting in my car high as a kite that I said the sinner's prayer and I said it with all my heart. I knew I had just changed my life.
Did I smoke marijuana again? Yes. Once. It made me sick. I was now a child of God and I knew God was telling me that I belonged to Him now. The dope smoking had to end and it did.
How did God reach me? Through Bible Prophecy and Christian Rock.
Yes I understand that some music that is classified as Christian should not be. The quote I mentioned above came from an article that categorically dumps all Christian Rock as being Satanic.
Yet it was the song of a Christian rock band (Stryper) that God used to get me to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
What have I done for Christ since that fateful night in February of 1990?
I became a Sunday school teacher to prevent me from being lazy when it comes to studying the word of God.
I read the Holy Bible through twice and have read some books of the Holy Writ many times.
I trained to become a certified lay speaker in the Methodist church which I no longer do because I'm in a different church now.
After I had a computer for awhile I was inspired to create the website www.anunseenworld.com which reaches over 400 people a day with the gospel.
I lead a bible study at a nursing home every Tuesday morning and I follow that up with another bible study at the home of a woman with MS.
I guest teach at my former Methodist church once a month.
Who knows what God will have me doing next.
I say all this to point out that God can and will use any means available to reach people for Christ even if it's Christian Rock.
I was listening to Christian rock in 1990 and I still listen to it in 2008 and it is with a thankful heart that I do because it always reminds of that that night in 1990 when Jesus became a part of my life due, in a large part, to Christian rock. The other part was His word and the convicting power of the Holy Spirit.
Because of my faith in Christ, there is no power anywhere that can separate me from the love of Christ. Because of that I know, as the Christian rock band Third Day sings, there is a light at the end of this tunnel for me.
