Gay Marriage: Did Love Win?

------Gay Marriage: Did Love Win?-------

In June of 2015 the Supreme Court passed a ruling that made it legal for men and women who prefer sexual partners of the same sex to get married. Soon after that, the message "Love Wins" was posted on social media outlets all over the internet.

When you really love someone, you want what is best for the other person. Is it really a good thing for men and women to engage in sex with their own gender instead of the opposite gender? Is the ruling of the Supreme Court in the best interests of those people who choose to practice homosexuality? Did love really win?

All scientific research has shown that smoking is hazardous to your health. This is the reason the government bans smoking in public facilities. The result of this ban is that fewer people get sick and die from smoke related diseases. This is for the well being of a society and society goes along with the ruling because society knows it is good for them.

Scientific research shows that people who practice homosexual lifestyles have a generally shorter life span than people who only engage in sex with the opposite sex. In every online study I could find, it was agreed that people who practice homosexuality have an average lifespan that is 20 years shorter than those who do not engage in this activity. Smoking, on the other hand, was supposed to only cut off 7 to 10 years of a person's lifespan.

Physically, the danger of men practicing sex with other men is more dangerous that it is for women with other women. Psychologically, it affects both genders equally. The reason it is more dangerous for men to have sex with other men than it is for women to engage in sex with other women is that sex with men involves damage to the rectal wall, coming into contact with fecal matter, and allowing some really nasty bacteria to enter into the body's system.

Why would the Supreme Court pass a law legalizing same sex marriage? It is a law that society knows is not good for society. It is a law that will allow men and women to destroy themselves with the government's blessing. Is this love? In the entire 6,000 year history of man, this is the first time that gay marriage has been institutionalized. This is a historical first. If all men and women were practicing homosexuals, then the population would eventually die out as no children would ever be born.

From a Biblical point of view, I see this as just the next step in the world rejecting the word of God and one step closer to worshiping the coming Antichrist. Psalms 2 foresees this: "2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, 3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us."

"Break their bands asunder" and "cast away their cords from us" refers to disobeying the rules and laws as outlined in the Bible. In the Roe vs Wade decision, the government of the United States cast off the cord called "Thou Shalt Not Kill" and called it abortion.

God established what marriage would be when He created man and woman. This is found in Genesis 2 "21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed."

God intended for a man to leave the home of his parents, take a wife, and become one flesh with the woman. Children were intended to be born from this union of man and woman. This is the natural way of things. Despite the laws of our government, men are still attracted to women and vice versa.

The institutionalization of gay marriage fulfills the Psalm that states "break their bands asunder" as it forces the gay rights agenda on society despite that same society being opposed to it. This law was imposed on us, not voted on by our populace. God is pretty clear how He feels about the homosexual agenda. Leviticus 18:22 states, " You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination". People will argue that was the Old Testament God speaking. They will say there is nothing like this in the New Testament but they are wrong.

Romans 1 states, "26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due."

God plainly tells us that those who practice the homosexual lifestyle will "receive in themselves the penalty of their error which was due". God, who is love, is giving a clear warning to stay away from this sexual sin. God does not do this to keep us from enjoying ourselves. He does this to protect us from acts that are harmful to us.

There are many websites on the internet that document that the lifestyle of the homosexual has a negative effect on the homosexual's mental health as well as their physical health. Homosexual men and women are far more promiscuous than heterosexual men and women are. This results in many more cases of sexually transmitted diseases other than AIDS.

The bottom line is that homosexuality is simply another one of man's many sins. Sin keeps a person from ever getting into heaven. The practicing homosexual has no hope of ever getting into heaven unless he or she repents and turns to God for forgiveness.

God, who is love, sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross to pay for that homosexual's sin. If the homosexual will put his or her faith in what Jesus did on the cross to pay for their sin, then the practicing homosexual can become the forgiven homosexual and will be assured of an eternity in Heaven. God will send the Holy Spirit to enable the person addicted to the gay lifestyle to overcome that sin and stop practicing it.

Homosexuality is just another sin that will prevent a person from enjoying the eternal reward of heaven after the person passes away. 2 Corinthians 6 shows us that there are many sins (we are all guilty of at least one of them at some point in our lives) which will prevent us from ever seeing heaven. " 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."

If you look at the world today, almost everyone is guilty of at least one of the sins mentioned above. Based on those two verses alone, our hope for a future eternity in heaven would be pretty dismal. However, their is good news. 2 Corinthians 6 goes on to say, "11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God." The blood of Jesus cleanses us from these sins and allows the Holy Spirit to control our lives so we can have the power to overcome these sins.

The gay, lesbian, and transgender community posted all over the social media that "love wins" after the supreme court made gay marriage legal. The question I have is this: How can a law that will shorten the lifespan of an individual, produce mental and health problems, and cause many families to grieve be an act of love? God forbids this activity because He is love. In the case of the legalization of gay marriage, love was not the victor. This law will destroy lives.

1 Peter 5:8 tells us who scored the victory with the passage of this law, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. "
