Sight Unseen, Issue #036 Familiar Spirits
February 07, 2005
-------------News--------------

Since I'm being a little slow getting these ezines out, I will send a bonus issue out next week.

Norma McCorvey, the woman responsible for the Roe vs Wade decision, has had a change of heart and is now trying to get that decision reversed. What changed her? She met Jesus Christ. Taking the life of a yet unborn child takes a heavy toll on the women who have this procedure performed. This is because it is not natural for a mother to want to kill her child. Who knows that the person who was destined to find a cure for cancer may have been aborted by a woman more concerned about the inconvenience and expense of having a child than the welfare of her unborn baby.

-------Familiar Spirits: Angels or Demons?-------

I was browsing through a new age magazine last week when I came across an ad from a medium claiming that she could help you get in touch with your personal angel. This ad went on to say that everyone has a personal angel. It also included the fact that we know these personal angels as "familiar spirits".

Does everyone have a personal angel? The Bible strongly suggests that we do. In Hebrews Chapter One we read 13 But to which of the angels has He ever said: "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool"? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

This verse tells us that one of the roles that an angel plays is to minister to those who will one day go to heaven. To minister simply means to serve God and, more specifically, Jesus Christ in some manner. Since all ministry centers around Jesus Christ, then all service must ultimately point to Him. To put it in simple terms, the role of an angel who serves God is to empower mankind to serve God as well.

The scriptures also teach us that there are fallen angels because Peter declares in 2 Peter Chapter 2 verse 4 that God didn't spare the angels who sinned. It is very clear from scripture that there are 2 classes of angels: those who kept their estate and did not rebel against God and those who lost their place in heaven because they rebelled against God.

Are the angels proclaimed in the ad that you can get in touch with through a medium serving God or are they in rebellion against God? What did God tell us in His word about "Familiar Spirits"?

And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. 2 Chronicles 33:6

A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.

God said that a man or a woman who had a familiar spirit should be put to death and those who consulted mediums to contact these spirits wrought much evil in the sight of the Lord. Why would God be so harsh in dealing with people who try to contact "angels" or "familair spirits"? Could it be that God knows more about the nature of these beings than man does?

Remember the Son of Sam serial killer? He went around New York City shooting lovers parked in their cars because a spirit had told him to through a dog. He had indulged in occultic activities including using mediums to contact the spirit world.

The fallen angels have no love for mankind because they know that redeemed man will inherit the estate that gave up the right to by forsaking God. Fallen angels hate mankind and will use any sort of trickery and deception to keep us from doing God's will and to keep us out of heaven. When you see that ad showing how you can get in touch with your personal angel, burn it.
