-------Evil Men-------

As you know, a young man by the name of Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people and wounded 29 others before killing himself on the campus of Virginia Tech University. This is the deadliest mass shooting in modern U. S. history.

I have been saying that this type of event would occur more frequently the closer we get to the return of Christ. “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:” 2 Timothy 3:1

Random acts of senseless violence puts all of us in danger. Since Satan is in charge of this current world age, we should not be surprised by acts of evil. After all, if you haven’t received Christ’s gift of pardon, then you belong to Satan and he will use you as he sees fit.

Police say they have yet to find any kind of motive for the killings. Autopsies and police investigators will never say, “During the course of our investigation we found that the perpetrator was controlled by an evil spirit which is why he did what he did. During our investigations, we have discovered that people who are controlled by demonic spirits are usually suicidal and can burst out in acts of great anger putting those people who are nearby in great danger at that moment.”

Scripture warns us, “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” John 3:19 Most of mankind rejects the light of Christ. Therefore most of mankind is capable of doing worse acts of evil than what happened at Virginia Tech. Without Christ, you and I would be just as prone to do horrible things.

Man has a basic misunderstanding of who he is. I see people all the time saying that man is basically good but scripture paints a different picture. Man is sinful and evil by nature which is why his nature must be changed by the Holy Spirit.

Timothy warns us “But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” 3:13 The families of the victims are now in great grief having their lives forever changed by what happened. We can take comfort in the fact that even senseless acts of violence works out for the good of those who love Christ. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

Be not troubled by the evil that is descending on this planet. It’s going to get worse but it’s all coming to an end. Evil is going to struggle mightily against good but evil loses. As the song goes, the best is yet to come.
