------Encounters-------

Why would God have such a strong command against psychics or mediums which seem to be prevalent in the world today? God said, 27 'A man or a woman who is a medium, or who has familiar spirits, shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones. Their blood shall be upon them.' " Lev. 20:27

Every special I have seen on television concerning "haunted houses", always has a "medium" or "psychic" to come visit the house to see who's haunting it. If God believes that these people should be stoned to death, then what is God protecting us from? I believe God is protecting us from the demonic world whose only interest in us is to destroy us. A visitor to my site shared this story with me:

I am curious about how the "spirit world" relates to the teachings of the Bible. I tend to believe that there are two kinds of spirits - demons and guardian angels. The "ghosts" that many people see or hear are demonic entities, and guardian angels are those forces that guide us by making us know that something isn't right, telling us to heed the warnings from that "little voice" in our heads that we tend to squash. My family and I have experienced many things that are not of this physical realm; we lived in a haunted house for many years.

For the first few years, little things would happen that would make us wonder, and often my wife and I would blame each other for things being out of place, broken, or filled with black gook (I thought she kept spilling soda in things!). One day we discussed it, and wondered aloud if the house was haunted - and once "they" knew that we knew, they went crazy, and they got really nasty. One of our cats was brutally attacked by an unseen hand, our aquarium shattered, no electronic device would be reliable. One night I awoke to hear tapping on the keyboard, and reached for my glasses so I could check it out, thinking a cat was playing. My wife, feeling me move, said "There's nothing there - I've been listening to it for a half hour". I still put my glasses on, and there was nothing there, but the keys continued to click.

After that, we had crosses blessed by a priest and hung one on each bedroom door; and many times after, sometimes a couple times a week, sometimes just a couple times a month, there would be a loud banging on our bedroom doors that would startle us out of bed. But no person was there. These are just a few incidents, but the last one came when my son, who had terrible nightmares and always said he saw gruesome things in his room, came in our room in the middle of the night, crying because he said there was "a man playing with my toys". I tucked him into our bed as my wife went to turn off his night light and get his pillow (it was kinda routine by then) and she came back in the bedroom white as a sheet, saying she had finally seen one of the entities. It seemed as startled as she was when she saw it, and it zipped away inhumanly fast. A couple days later, she became terribly ill and had to go to the hospital for a bit. We were out of that place within a couple months after that, but now we seem to be more sensitive to these demons. I now sense them, and several times have seen them, where we live and at work. With Jesus' help, I was successful in one exorcism - I didn't set out to do it, it just happened - and I believe that through continuous prayer I have sent two other spirits away. My wife and I were not devout Christians when this all began, but we are now, and we try every day to walk a bit closer to Jesus. As the enemy sends these demons to frighten us and make us doubt, we now know we have the authority, through our Lord, to dispel them.

Unlike the many families on TV specials who consult mediums which just opens the door for more demonic activity, this family turned to Christ and saw results. There is a glut of writings, movies, and specials that prepare the human mind to accept occultic activity. All of this is paving the way for the world to worship Satan as God. God help us.
